A word that should be the antonym of Flammable but is, in fact a synonym!!

Simple, really: Just state your word of the day. Pick a word, any word, obscure or not. Modern or archaic. Just remember to explain why it's the word of the day, and what it means.

My word is immolation. The reason for this is because it is a word that makes me laugh, though killing something with fire ain't funny, the word itself is.

Ormolu - noun

Also called mosaic gold. an alloy of copper and zinc used to imitate gold.
Also called bronze doré, gilt bronze. gilded metal, especially cast brass or bronze gilded over fire with an amalgam of gold and mercury, used for furniture mounts and ornamental objects.
gold or gold powder prepared for use in gilding.

a gold-coloured alloy of copper, tin, or zinc used to decorate furniture, mouldings, etc
(as modifier)an ormolu clock
gold prepared to be used for gilding

Etymology: From the French: or moulu - "or" - gold "moulu" ground - ormoulu

It's my word of the day because I love the sound of it, when spoken. If the "r" in "or" is rolled on the tongue before sliding onto "moulu", it makes me think it should be the name for an exotic bird, whose cry would sound like that.

This is so far from the actual meaning of the word, that the strangeness of it pleases me even more, so it is my word of the day.

That is quite some word. I like it a lot, and until now hadn't heard of it.

My word is going to be: Potentiometer. An electronic device used to control the value of a circuit, most commonly used as a volume contrl. In thje giutar community, it's often shortened to "pot", but the full word "potentiometer" has a nice roundness to it. Po-ten-shee-omm-et-er.
