Why in the name of Almighty Grothnar is it so difficult to find overburning CD-Rs? Oh, yeah... Obsolete technology. Right, that'll explain it. My favourite Dreamcast game (Shenmue II) decided to stop working, so as it's abandonware, I decided to download a copy. Trying to find a CD-R to fit it on is proving to be difficult and annoying because the version I downloaded is 99 minutes, and most CD-R discs are only 80 minutes. I could download the 80 minute version, but that means that some audio and video has been downscaled, which is not particularly nice. I could buy a new copy of Shemnue II, but at over £50, it's not exactly an easily affordable thing. I guess I'll just have to make do with the 80 minute downscaled version. Meh.

I don't know much about these things but would it work on a DVD+/-R? They have around 4.7gb.

Unfortunately, the Dreamcast isn't compatible with DVDs at all. It uses a proprietary format, called GD-ROM (Gigabyte Disc), but hackers discovered that CD-R discs will work. But only CD-R discs. Which is a pain in the arse.

A GD-ROM is basically just a modified CD-R, with the inner sector being for the boot.img, and the outer for all other data. The boot.img acts as DRM, and even today, it's pretty difficult to hack. Once hacked, though, it a GD-ROM can be slimmed down to fit on a normal CD-R, but that requires a downgrade of audio or video. Some hackers remove the boot.img, but that brings about a problem whereby the disc can't boot, so a separate boot disc has to be used, which is a little inconvenient, but not as bad as the fact that a GD-ROM won't fit on a CD-R
