Does yours have a pattern embossed inside, which leaves the bread with the same pattern? A friend of mine has one with a heart pattern, which leaves the toasted bread beautifully heart blazoned.
Plus they make fantastic sandwiches.

That's quite unusual, to say the least. Impressive looking, too, but how long would it last, I wonder? It would be prone to degradation from humidity, bugs, mice...

Just found this thread, and it is lovely indeed. My favorite toppings for toast are also butter and honey or butter and orange marmalade. Yum! I don't eat white bread anymore, so mine goes on toasted whole wheat or dark rye.

Can you imagine if pirates liked toast instead of rum? They'd probably be less bloodthirsty, you know, not being drunk all the time.
