Wow. I think this is the first actual comp since I've been active on SS. Good theme and idea, too. I am meditating on it. Perhaps this will break my current writing drought.

Halloween looms and my annual story is here. Is it a trick? Or a treat? Let me know.

Wow, 3 up already. I just have ideas, none of them really clicking yet. Good for those people.

Looking forward to it! "Now to edit" for me means chopping about 75% of what I wrote in the first draft to get it under the word limit!

For me, "now to edit" means rewriting the whole lot

It's done now, though. I'll post it sometime this weekend
With a group of three stories submitted on the first day or so, I was expecting a flood of entries. But not so far, that has not happened. In any case, mine is up and is noted below. These stories are all so easy to read because they are short and all, so far, have been creative and entertaining. I have a good feeling about this contest, especially since the writers are given so much time to complete an entry.

Let's face it, with a September 7 deadline, people can take their time on this one. Mine's on fourth draft and now "in the oven". I'll look at it again in a day or two and decide if it's done or needs more work. I'm not one to rush a story, especially when I have a over a month to make sure I'm happy with it.

I have been wondering if this implies that the judges are going to take into account the number of views and votes when judging the entries.

No, the judges will consider each entry independently, regardless of views and votes. However, we may have some sort of additional readers’ choice recognition. We’re still working that out.

Probably the wrong site to speculate on the where and why of those sore places, Rach ... presumable your entry wont be about Portland ... catch you soon prune face, and running

My entry is up though I cant link it in my forum signature; maybe I haven't posted enough. It is called Coral is the colour of love and is, surprisingly for those familiar with my other writing, set in Australia.

My latest story, Mardi Gras Competition: Sydney's Mardi Gras: We Shall Overcome

Some earlier stories:

Spooky Tales competition: Tales From the Crypt: Downunder Edition

Tam-challenge Micro: Under the Red Hoodie

Maybe my best story: Finding Pride on Oxford Street

You have to have 20 posts before you can post links (to prevent drive-by spammers). But I think you suspected that from past experience.

There is a new one as of this evening EDT. Pretty good, too. Maybe he overheard your demands.

Thanks for the promo!

Should have counted before you submitted.

Just giving this a bump to get it on the forum radar. Been kind of quiet since clum submitted. Maybe he scared everyone else off?

It is difficult to understand why we don't have more entries. Really, less than 500 words. And write subject you wish simply using the required words. Oh well, gives the ones who entered a better chance to win.

Actually, I believe I know at least two ladies that are thinking seriously about entering. I just hope they do it soon.

We are allowed to advertise on other places as long as we stress that we are family friendly. My blog on the site that some of us share has something made up if any of you want to share. Just let me know and I'll send you a copy or if you can see my blog just copy/paste. Don't forget to add a link.
