We are allowed to advertise on other places as long as we stress that we are family-friendly. My blog on the site that some of us share has something made up if any of you want to share. Just let me know and I'll send you a copy or if you can see my blog just copy/paste. Don't forget to add a link.

I just copied and pasted your blog item on my own blog. Maybe some of my friends we do not share will give the competition a try.

The coffee is busy percolating right now and the tea kettle is on the burner.

My kitchen countertop should be finished today along with the new sink and faucet and tomorrow we will have the lighting installed. I'm expecting the renovation to be finished rather quickly. Just four days of disturbance. I'm rather pleased so far.
I mentioned the comp on Wondercafe2, the site I admin, and posted a link to my story (we have a thread for sharing our art). And I tweeted my comp entry and I am pretty sure I mentioned the comp in the tweet.

Halloween looms and my annual story is here. Is it a trick? Or a treat? Let me know.

Just read the latest entry. Good one. It's a small field for those of us used to larger comps, but a pretty good one if you ask me. And there's still a couple weeks left to go if you haven't entered yet.

By my count, we have 14 entries for our contest. The very first entry was from Adrienne. Her story has had only one comment and, presumably, one vote. I am not a moderator so I can't judge if her story is fulfilling the requirements. I just know that her story seems to be the only one that may not have enough votes. Perhaps some of us could check it out and decide to vote for her or not.

This story has been removed from the comp now, Larry. It was actually posted in April before the comp started and somehow got added. Wasn't even on theme.

So we are back to 13, though a little birdy told me we might be getting something from a certain angel.G1TegwER1thnccDp

And we did get back to 14, thanks to a nice entry from wordpusher715. Give it a look and a comment if you have not already. A fun, lighthearted piece about a rather different White House administration.

A little over a week to go. It's only 500 words so there's still lots of time to get your entry in!

Okay, no guarantees, but I will try to get an entry in by midnight, Pacific time!

A quick question - can we use different tenses of the required word? Like, "screamed" instead of "scream/s"?

I say yes on the tenses. As long as they are being used. Good luck getting one done!

Slightly different, but I changed a singular "turtle" to "turtles."
That puts us at 16 entries, maybe 17 if Verbs gets his in. For those counting, the latest two are:

And

Both terrific reads.

(Shameless self-promotion: My entry is the first link in my sig, The Berry Girl, for those who have not yet read it.)

Yay! I'm in! Submitting now.

SORRY - I rushed my submission and somehow made it a part of the series Chew by accident. I hope the error can be rectified in time! If not, well I shouldn't have waited until the last minute, huh? smile

The verifying mod should be able to fix that. If not, it's a quick edit for you once approved.

I have a quick question, abd this may or may not be the right thread for it. I noticed, on the front page, below the number of votes in the circle, most comp entries say "Scored 5 Comp." Some however (like mine) say "Score Comp" with no 5. What does the 5 mean? I qualified for the comp, right?

When you see Scored 5 Comp that is a story you voted on with a five. You cannot vote on your own, so it won't show you voted on it. ;)

You have absolutely qualified. We do not have the number of comments/votes requirement as other places do. Not yet anyway. I'm hoping to get to that point where have a need one day. smile

Can you not see your vote amount? As Survivor said, the number on the other comp stories show what you voted on theirs. If you can't see your amount could you please send me a screenshot of what you have?

Oh, man, it's my own vote! D'oh! Who knew?

Thanks to you and Larry for answering so promptly. There are some really fine stories in this comp.

You're right about that. I have been so impressed and please by them all.

We have some pretty talented people on this site.
My comp entry was my first story written here. Thank you to Clum for bringing my attention to this site. Best wishes to all the great entries! This was fun!

And we are glad it brought you over. More writers makes more fun on a site like this, eh.

You're very welcome. smile
This was such a fun contest!
I have been hoping the glitch with the contestant "Story Competitions" badges would be fixed. Apparently there are two of them created to memorialize the last two contests. They should look nicely colorful on our profiles when they are working properly. We few, we happy few, with both pictures are going to be pleased with how they look under our total badges awarded.

Huh. Hadn't even noticed that. Shows how often I look at my own profile, eh.

I didn't notice it either. I'm looking into sorting them.

While you are at it you might mention that the Famous Story badge is not working properly. At this time a member with a story having over 2,500 views should get a Famous Story badge. That was done by Gav about two years ago when he was updating the badges here on Stories Space. But even so, I have a story that has not received the badge. It has 3,715 views. I've mentioned it in the past, even to Gav himself. Just a small thing, I know.

Agreed. I have seven stories that exceed 2500 views, one of which has more than 4000 (https://www.storiesspace.com/stories/flash-fiction/the-gathering.aspx).
There are others, too, including Maggie. If advertised, it should be added.

There is also another, underutilised badge (in my opinion)... The Series Award.
