Quote by gypsyIs there a tag or anything special that has to be added to mark the story as a competition entry? I didn't see such a thing on the first entry, but it is early morning here, so maybe I missed it.
But if there isn't one, could something be put in place to have the entries stand out and be identified? 🤷🏻♀️
I've sent them a message about that. That is something I dropped the ball on and assumed it would pop up automatically.
For now, I'll just ask everyone to add competition to the tags.
Quote by PingI may have missed the conversation, but I can’t figure out how to post a picture from my phone. The current set up only allows for a URL or YouTube link.
What am I missing? Or, is this one of the things that is on the techie honey-do list?
Thanks.
We've got our first story!

Quote by verbalWhy can't you enter? Because you won the last one? Don't worry, that's not a thing here. If you get an idea we definitely welcome it.No gratuitous gore or graphic violence!? I'M OUTTA HERE!!!
I won't enter--I'm not sure I'm allowed--but I look forward to reading the entries. Good comp theme!
Good morning, afternoon for some. I thought I would leave this here... https://www.storiesspace.com/forum/site-announcements-and-members-feedback/a-spooky-tales-competition
Hey everyone! We’ve been through a lot over the past few weeks, but now that we’ve had a chance to settle into the new place, it’s time to have a little fun.
This will be our first competition since the update to the site. Since the changes were scary for many of us and Halloween is right around the corner, we felt now would be the perfect time for a Spooky Tales Competition.Have you ever found yourself alone at night and heard a thump in the dark? Did you catch the doll on the shelf move out of the corner of your eye or did you leave the closet door open? Perhaps new neighbors have just moved in and there is something not quite right. We want to see your best spooky stories.
They don’t have to be scary, but they must contain some element of fear or fright. Please keep in mind that entries with gratuitous gore or extremely graphic violence will not be accepted.
All categories are open except for the following ones: Micro Fiction, Plays, Poetry, and Songs.
The maximum word count is 5000.
Quick Facts:
You cannot submit already published work.
The story must be stand-alone.
We will not accept gratuitous gore or graphic violence.
The maximum word count is 5000.
The winners will be announced on November 12, 2021.
All our standard story contest rules apply.
Hey everyone. I know there have been a few crossovers happening when we are navigating through the site. I would like to ask you all that if you have one of these "red" crossovers will you please raise a support ticket?
You can find it at the bottom of the page under HELP & INFO. Click Support.
At the top underneath Support FAQ is a sentence that says, "Here you can find..." at the end of that sentence is raise a ticket. Click that.
Once there, just follow the steps to raise a support ticket.
If anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to reach out.
Quote by verbalQuote by magnificent1rascalYeah, I'd prefer word count to an estimated time to read.Quote by PingHas anyone asked about or commented on the missing word counts from poems and stories?
I briefly scanned the other posts. I may have missed it. Can anyone see word counts? If so, where are they?
Thanks.
I’ve noticed it but not mentioned it. Estimated read time appears to have taken its place, but I prefer word count for a number (ha!) of reasons.
I'd also love it if they'd tweak line spacing, it's driving me bonkers: more space in paragraph breaks, less space in line breaks (within the paragraph).
Having an icon for RR and EP next to the title would be groovy too.
We have discussed (across the board) changing it back to the word count in place of the time. Along with having the RR and EP badges back on display and the spacing issues we are having. There are several other things as well. Unfortunately, those are all things that we will have to wait a little bit longer for, at least until all of the technical things get sorted.
Please know, even if it is taking a little longer than we might like to tweak these things, we have not forgotten your concerns.
Thank you all for pointing out the little things (and the big things) and thank you for working with us while we sort things out.
Quote by SurvivorHello, folks. I thought I would write a note to let people know all that I know about getting Bill on the site. When Storiesspace was converted to the new platform Bill was unable to get on at all. His daughter, who is proficient in technology, was unable to get him online. I was aware of what was happening because Bill and I recently met in my hometown.
I passed on Bill's problem to Molly and I think she passed it on to the tech folks who were bringing the new platform into service.
When the "other site" was passed to its new platform it was clear that Bill was not online here nor there.
I have tried to send messages to Bill using the message system on both sites thinking they would connect to active email accounts for him. I have not heard back. I have tried calling him at a phone number he gave me but it is not in service.
I have once more passed on the situation to Molly who was not aware that Bill was not on either site yet.
That is the present situation. I do not know how Bill is nor if anyone is actively working to get him back online with us.
I am trying. We all want him here. I've reached out on both platforms. Hopefully, it will be sorted soon.
Quote by BrookellI have submitted a story several days ago, It's still showing as
In Draft' even though I got the message that it was submitted flashed on the screen when I did it. Problems? This new process is much less intuitive and no real feedback when something is in that state between submitted and published.
Brookell
We've had a few people running into the same issues as you. I've submitted it and hopefully, they are looking into it.
Quote by MendallaActually, could we just keep the discussion in another thread or something? We do still need this thread for issues on this site, stable as it is now.
Actually, there is no reason why there should be discussions about the crossover site at all in the forums on this site. That is why I asked everyone to be patient and to message privately if they have concerns.
I am asking the crossover members the same thing I asked when SS got its facelift. Please be patient. It has been less than 24hrs and you must keep in mind that the site is twice the size of this one.
There are some glitches logging in and there are some glitches throughout the site, but please know that they are working on this as quickly as they can. Again, having patience is the number one thing right now.
If you have a serious, more immediate concern, please feel free to message me privately.
