Admittedly, there's a learning curve, but as long as one has a decent, non-evil keyboard, that doesn't want to correct stuff like "Rupert" to "Robbie ate his face off", then you're jamming.

I have never owned anything with Auto-Correct on it...can't you just turn it off?

I've used my phone to type stories, poems, musings. When I can't' be arsed to pick up my laptop or I'm out and about, and an idea hits me, I just whip out the phone and type away. My typing is a bit slow, but error rate is also low. I don't mind touch screens.

Actually, for that sort of activity I don't have a problem with touch screens...I think they're fine for taking notes, or posting Facebook comments, or whatever...

What I've been seeing more and more of lately though, is people who own only a tablet and/or phone with a touch screen, and nothing else...no regular laptop, or real computer...and for a guy like me who does do some real writing now and then...and yeah, I know it's hard to tell lately...that does not work for me...

I can't even imagine writing a story using a touch screen...to me it would be a form of torture...though people do it...

Finally got around to updating the site with the latest set of features.

Must be why I keep getting logged out over here...and nice work btw...
Need to post this somewhere...and this thread seems to be as good a spot as any...

"AgentQuery.com offers one of the largest searchable database of literary agents on the web—a treasure trove of reputable, established literary agents seeking writers just like you. And it's free (not because there's a catch, but simply because not enough things in this world are free)"

I am stuck on my phone 95% of the time. Blame all my spelling errors because of this dumb thing.

Yeah...can't relate to any of that myself...if you see spelling errors on one of my posts, you can blame them on me...

Why is dust?

Dust is mostly dead skin cells...that much I do know...

I HATE TOUCH SCREENS!

Abso-friggin-lutely...not that I actually own one, but I have tried, and yeah...not for me either...

I would tend to think that anyone here who is a serious writer, or does a fair amount of typing in general, would share our hatred here...though I can't say for sure, as there seems to be a whole generation growing up with them on most everything...

But yeah...I don't own a tablet, or a smart phone, or any of that fancy stuff they got out on the market these days...perish the thought actually...I shudder just thinking about touch screens myself...

I have moved the thread here for now until we have time to discuss and deal with it. I don't have time right now.

None of us have the time for this right now, or ever for that matter...I barely have time for much of anything these days as I have a lot going on at the moment...

And if you need a suggestion as to where to move this thread in the future, let me know...

They are all childish and yes, Andy needs to calm down, but so does everyone else. People need to grow thicker skin.

I think it's a shame that all this crap is happening in what is basically a poetry thread, as it really shouldn't be turning into a kindergarten like it has...I believe that one of the problems is that hard feelings from other threads are being carried over into this one...

I know Yas and I disagree on the issue, but personally I don't believe that threads about capital punishment, gun control, religion, etc. belong here on a writing site...one look over at the so-called "Think Tank" over on the red site will confirm that, and it's just been a constant headache for the mods over there...I believe that if you want to discuss those issues, there are literally countless forums on the internet that you can go to...there's no good reason to have stuff like that in the forum here...it just creates friction among the members, and we really don't need people deleting their accounts or whatever because of, what I consider at least, unnecessary bull crap...

My suggestion is, the next time someone starts a thread that resembles something in the Think Tank over on Lush, we should lock the thread, post a message saying that frankly this crap really doesn't belong here on a writing site, as it has nothing to do with writing...and then delete the whole thread a week or so later...

Just my two cents at the moment...I really don't like to see this stuff going on here...I did like Gypsy's response though...thought that was a lot better than her recent contest story...

I can't believe I am here posting this message again, but here I am.

You're doing a fine job there Miss Blue...and I second everything you said there, and then some...

You would think on an adult writing site,
That people would get along and not fight,
But there's one thing for sure,
And that's they act immature,
And their behavior is far from polite.

Andy.. do you have an off-switch? You go into every thread and find a way to antagonize someone. It is really getting tiresome. You are the epitome of a troll and while you may have friends here, your options for making more are dwindling. As a long time member of SS, I am requesting that you tone down your rhetoric, focus on the topic of the thread, generally keep your comments to yourself unless invited, and lastly, be respectful to other members here. We have earned it.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Very well put there Larry...somebody should really speak to a moderator about this...oh wait, never mind...

The number of people who like you are dwindling.

I believe you have some serious grammar and word usage mistakes here in this sentence Margot...in order for something to dwindle, there has to be a positive value in the first place, and by all accounts, that has never been the case...around here at least...

Please look up the word "dwindle" and try not to make that mistake again...thank you for your cooperation...
Just want to mention that I actually made the No. 1 most viewed spot a couple of weeks back, and out of over 4100 authors on the site now I might add...though how that happened I have not a clue...

Anyway...I now have a totally cool No. 1 badge on my Authorsdb page...check it out my friends...

AUTHORSdB > Authors Directory > Alan W. Jankowski
http://authorsdb.com/authors-directory/1824-alan-w-jankowski

This is what the badge looks like btw...

Yeah...your guess is as good as mine here as to how I made the top spot my friends...but I did get this notification on January 17, 2015...and the next day I was back down to 155 or something btw...

That's wonderful Allan..xxxoo. or is it Alan.

Second one...and yeah, it does sound like a real good cause...
My poem We Started As Friends is in a new anthology for charity...here's the e-mail I got earlier...well, a couple of weeks ago, I'm a bit behind here...and, of course, you don't have to actually buy the book to read my poem, you can read it right here on this fine site known as Stories Space...

The wait is over... the love anthology is now published! The title of the book, "We Are Poetry", is taken from the title of Sarah Frances Moran's beautiful poem, which is the first poem featured in the book. There is so much talent appearing in the book and I'm very proud of this collection. Poets from all over the world are featured in the anthology, including poets from the Philippines, the United Kingdom, and South Africa. All the poets entwine their poetic branches in this collection to celebrate one thing -- the glory of love. I thank each and every one of you for allowing me to include your work and helping me to raise money and awareness for One Love Foundation.

To order a copy of the book, click on the following link:

The price is $7.65 per copy plus shipping and tax. Amazon does ship internationally.

Those of you who do not have an Amazon.com account and do not wish to get one may order copies through me, but it will take longer to receive since I would have to wait to receive payment in the mail and I would be ordering your copies through the publisher. If you wish to order copies through me, please email me how many copies you would like and I will get back to you on your total after shipping. Those ordering through me must pay by money order or cash and all payments must be in U.S. currency only.

Thanks again for contributing to this book! To keep up-to-date on my calls for submissions and poetry contests, like my Facebook page, Poetry Contests for a Cause, at https://www.facebook.com/poetrycontestsforacause. The current contest, co-sponsored by The Avocet, is the 2015 Earth Day Poetry Contest.

Here's the link to the One Love Foundation for anyone interested...they do stuff to raise awareness about relationship violence...sounds like a good cause, me thinks...

If it's any consolation Alan.. all of the contestants are coming to your place for wine and oreos after the awards ceremony..

Hmmm...Oreos aren't looking real good at the moment, though I might have a half a box of Cracker Jack or something laying around...

Let me go check the wine cellar here...yeah, we might be able to make it through alright...

Paul.. I think they must be getting close to picking a winner(s).. so we'll see if it made a difference..

I have a feeling the winners may have been picked already, and I have a hunch they were all here before the contest was announced, though I'm not sure I'm at liberty to say much at the moment...

If it's any help...I am not one of the winners...so, that answers that question...
I don't think anyone posted these before...I think this is kinda cool...as far as toasters go anyway...

I was looking at the entries, to see, if I didn't miss any off them. I found, that there are a few from people, who apparently only joined this site for the sake of the competition.

Though I like their stories, I doesn't feel right, that people only come here for the chance to win some money.

Personally, I see no issue with people joining the site for the sole purpose of entering the competition...they may join for the money, so to speak...and stay for other reasons, like they like what they see...which is fine with me btw...
"We’re looking for short genre stories in which Things Happen—stories about lives saved, discoveries made, worlds changed, days seized, and hearts broken or mended. We want tight plots, snappy dialogue, and smart, engrossing prose—pieces that you can’t help but devour in one sitting, but which reward coming back for a second look"...pays 2 cents/word, and a flat $15.00 for reprints...not too shabby...

And btw...the fact that they buy reprints means you can sell them something you already have posted here on Stories Space...go for it my friends...
Alright, we have an update from Kiki Howell about the charity anthology to raise money for veterans groups that I am involved in...including a blurb, cover and table of contents...

We Go On: Charity Anthology for Veterans

The poems and stories included in this anthology, written by various authors, tell of veterans outside of war, of how their sacrifice of service changed their lives long after the war was over. Although some of the messages of the sacrifices of war are sadly timeless, they speak of unsung heroes, and I say unsung because nothing we could ever do for them would ever be enough to say thank you for all they gave. With that said, with these poems and stories, we will give what we can. 100% of the profits made will go to charities for veterans.

To all who have served and to all of those who love them, we offer our undying gratitude because it is all we truly have to give you for your sacrifices, told and untold. So, we give what we can to honor you, to say thank you, and to, in some small way, give back. Although it could never be enough, a million thanks or a million dollars, we pray we can help some of the many who have given so much, so selflessly, and then suffered even as they fought another battle, the battle to go on…
