They have some interesting story prompts:
Slut shaming. Contraception. Body dysmorphia. Ladette culture. Impossible Disney princesses. The glass ceiling for women in everything from banking to comedy. Acid attacks in S Asia.
Slut shaming? Not sure about that one.
I went for the glass ceiling prompt. Shame I didn't notice the blog rule at first.
Never mind. It was a fun exercise and 200 words was tight.
Keep passing... I like checking out these obscure sites you keep finding.
Although I still haven't actually entered anything on one yet.
Below is what I would have entered if I had a blog.
Had to be <200 words remember.
Shattered Glass
She's black and she's proud, she's elegant and strong, her personality is a warm embrace and her mind is as sharp as a blade.
She is Chloe and I'm proud too because I can call this wonderful woman my friend.
There are no limits for Chloe, despite there being more than one glass ceiling above her head.
But to her mind glass is glass, it can be seen through and shattered if she strikes the right blow.
"So, why should I give you such an important job?" the MD asked her.
"Because you know I can do it... and do it well," Chloe told him.
"Hmm," thought the MD, already hearing bitter voices claiming positive discrimination.
He heard another voice though, one which called out from the CV on his desk.
Those qualifications and glowing testimonials didn't just speak the truth, they screamed it.
So he looked again at the CV made flesh, at the impressive young woman sat before him.
"Welcome to the firm, Chloe," he told her.
And not for the first time, all my dear Chloe could hear was the sound of shattering glass.
