Midnight Echo needs submissions of dark fiction and poetry for a themed issue called “SINISTER”—a collection of stories that interpret the meaning of sinister, whether it’s a shady character, a nightmare, an object of terror, a dark ambience, an ominous vision, etc. Midnight Echo is the trade magazine of the Australian Horror Writers Association (est. 2003) and is open only to writers who reside in Australia and New Zealand. Award-winning writer and author Kaaron Warren is guest editing this issue. She welcomes unique perceptions of the theme and in any style. Because this theme allows for a lot of creative freedom, the best stories must invigorate, engage, and surprise readers. Word length: up to 5K words/story. Up to 100 lines/poem. Payment: 3 cents/word, up to $150/story. $15/poem of under 50 lines. $25/poem of up to 100 lines. Reading period closes October 31, 2014. Read submission guidelines here. - See more at:
