I'm just being nosey and wondering what everyone's up to lately with their writing. Do you have several projects on the go at once or are you focusing on one particular story?
I've three stories going on.

The follow up to Bedtime which atm exists only in my head.
But it's pretty much all worked out and I'm looking forward to writing about The Twins again.

The next story I won't say anything about as it's going into a competition first.
I'll just say it's almost finished and I expect to post a slightly adapted version on storiesspace sometime in July.
(I'm sure you'll get my drift there)

+ I've another little Flash Fiction story to write about something very ordinary that happened only this week.
It's very sweet and it won't take me too long.

So with those three I'll complete the collection of stories I planned on posting on storiesspace when I first joined.
But I've no plans on stopping of course...

I get your drift Steffanie...

Yeah, I plan on writing a story for the same competition.
I have an unfinished flash fiction piece for here...and I think I'm going to write a short story for "e-book"...I'll shop it around to one of the e-book publishers, but I don't think I'll have any problem there...

After I get those things out of the way, I'll get back to writing my novel...I announced last year I was turning "Love Conquers All" into a novel...so far, I have one chapter done...
I hope to get a publishing deal prior to completion of the novel, so I've been trying to build up my "writer's resume" to that end in the hope of getting an agent and going the "traditional" publishing route. So far this year I've sold four stories...not bad, considering none were written with the intention of selling them...
If anyone is interested in my "writer's resume" it is my profile on LinkedIn...I think it may actually be overkill...I've listed every little "accolade" but, hey...

I also have been attempting to get something in print...so far, all the short stories I've sent in to various submission calls have been rejected. There are only limited markets for previously published stories and poems, which leads me to another thing. I'd like to try to get a poem "in print"...to that end, I think I'm going to hold off posting my next few poems here, and try to get a poem in one of the print journals...

I'm sure they'll eventually end up here...

That's it for me for now...though anything could change at any moment...
I once knew a drinker who had a moderating problem...

I'm currently looking to finish my Accidental Detective series which may take a while as I don't want to rush it. I'd rather it be good than just churned out. I've submitted a poem to the National UK poetry society website. I'm looking to play around with form in my poetry so I'm going to try work on a series of them over the next few weeks. I'm limiting my prose work at the moment as I'm looking for inspiration and more available time. Real life tends to get in the way most days.

Hey there...hope everyone's New Year is off to a great start, writing wise, and I think it's very encouraging from what I have seen so far...it seems quite a few here are getting back into writing in a big way for 2012...

I have two goals as a writer for 2012...the first is to get more poetry published, ideally a whole book of my stuff, and will be doing what I can this year to accomplish that...

I did make a certain amount of effort in 2011 to get stuff published, and personally I think I did fairly well to that end, but really didn't make much effort to get poetry published...perhaps because there's usually not much in the way of, um, monetary gain associated with poetry publication, the thought sort of gets pushed aside...

What's changing my opinion this year is the very real and very persistent problem of people stealing my poems...combined with the fact that I believe I may actually have a real chance of getting accepted by a real publisher, based on my increased popularity as a "poet"...a term I use loosely, btw...especially as a result of the 9-11 poem thingy...

The other writer goal I have for 2012 is to get back into writing my novel...some here may have read the one chapter I have completed, Chapter 2 of all things...yeah, who says you have to write a novel in order? Anyway, some here may recall I got my computer stolen in Sept. 2010, so that sort of derailed that project...the idea of rebuilding lost notes is something I look forward to like another root canal, and I had one of those a couple of months ago, btw...

But, I really do think the novel will be worth it...and hopefully the rewards will ultimately outweigh the grief, of which there will be much...

Both of those above goals I think will be doable, btw...and if I do accomplish them, I will be sort of like...

Wish me luck here people...

Cheers,
Alan.

Good Luck Alan!
It is very strange that people have stolen your poems. I do hope your future is rosy and inspired.
You are a great inspiration for me.

Love colours our worlds in endless dimensions and unifies all aspects of our activities. Just as sunlight filters through clouds and causes the grasses to turn gold so everything is interlinked in our world.
I'm working on a novella that I hope to have sold this year, and four final stories that I'm letting everyone read for free. After that, I have to concentrate on my writing and real life projects I have going on.

www.szadventures.com

I'm trying to get my focus back onto my writing for this year. Hopefully by the time the year is through I will have finished my first novella, a drama/romance and have at least two chapters of my new paranormal series wrapped up. That is of course besides trying to complete eight other WiP that I have had going for over a year now.

Happy writing everyone.

“Many people hear voices when no one is there. Some of them are called mad and are shut up in rooms where they stare at the walls all day. Others are called writers and they do pretty much the same thing.”

I'm working on a story for a writing course application.
It's due in May and I want more than one story to pick from.

Also I thought I might write a story for the new beginnings competition.
If you can read this I'll enjoy your company.
1) Something for the New Beginnings Competiton - it's about time right?
2) My travelog - A set of writing call "Atmospheres" - to go with my photos.
3) My fiction - my version of Red Riding Hood- who knows where that'll go!

Whew!! Seems like a small but daunting list!!!
My plan for the first half of the year or so is to finish off a lot of the half finished first drafts I have kicking around, so I can focus on less things at once. Then I want to switch into studying and editing mode to try and tighten up my novel.

Not to say I won't start something new if I'm inspired though silly I definitely want to do something for the new beginnings contest since it's such an inspiring theme.

@Mandsi - what sort of writing course are you applying for? I'm thinking of doing a short course next autumn, partially just for the fun of meeting other writers in the area.

Actually, that's a good idea Chrissey...actually, one of these days I'll get my lazy butt to join this group since I realized recently that I'm actually in walking distance of where they meet once a month...

So...could be interesting...I met Caridad back in October, 2010 and she told me about...but I still haven't gone over there...I have to add that to my "To-Do" list...
I once knew a drinker who had a moderating problem...

Hi! I just joined a blogging site, so that's what I'm doing! I'm also writing a short article for Highlights magazine. I got the idea in the doctor's office~I have a question, if you don't mind that I put it here. I don't know where else to put it. How can I attach pictures to my stories? Can you do that here?

No Pandabear...we don't have that capability...you can't put links in stories either...

Are you really a panda bear, btw?

Hi Janina,

As far as I'm aware there's no way to add pictures to stories on this site. I've sometimes created banners for my stories and used them as my forum signature or posted them on my profile, but if you're looking to use pictures to illustrate your story then you're out of luck I'm afraid.

You could always post your stories on your blog with pictures. A lot of people here are bloggers too.

Good luck with your articles.

I'm trying to focus on the 1st draft of a new novel. It's a tie in with a film and upcoming web series from the website I help run - The Great Escape. We're trying for this whole "Transmedia storytelling" thing so eventually there may also be related radio plays, comics and stuff. It's an exciting project.

No, but I love panda bears, I have a panda bear hat I wear! I collect stuffed panda bears and panda bear figurines! Oh well, maybe they could come up with a way you can attach pics to go with your stories and poems? The visual element is often a nice addition to the verbal element.
I like that word, panda. In Greek, πάνδα. It means forever.

As for projects, it's either the moons pull, the new song I discover, or the feeling I get, just because.

I just try to listen to the waves.
