Crediting another person for their story idea

I tried searching to see if my topic had come up before, but I didn't see one.

Here's my thing. A friend had a story idea and she ran it by me. I thought it was a very good and told her to write it. She laughed and said she has no writing skills and wouldn't know how to go about it at all.

So I asked her if it would be okay if I tried my hand at writing the story. She said that she would be thrilled if I could pull it off.

Well, I have written it, and I am editing it now. But my question is, since it was her idea, I would like to give her credit for it as well. She told me that I did not have to do that, but it is only right that I do.

What is the best way to give her credit as well for when I post it to my profile? Should I give a little prologue before the story that states I used her ideas when writing it? Because I know when I post it, it will only be under my name and profile, and even though I wrote it, I still want people to know that the idea for the story came from a good friend.

Just wondering.
great idea I would listed her profile under the name
and also ask people to also let her know there thoughts
and congrats on her page as well
good luck and tell her we would all want to read her work

Douglas, thank you for giving credit to your friend for her idea! I'm sure she will appreciate the gesture.

Rather than doing it as a prologue, however, I would suggest a short author's note at the end of the story. If she is a member here, you could also post your thanks on her profile page.

I did forget to mention, she does not have a profile here. That's the main reason why I was wondering how I should do it.

And thank you magnificent for your suggestion! I am going to take you up on that since she is not a member here.
