You know I wish science fiction, fantasy, those stories were more popular on here along with the longer stories, because they have more depth to them then the short stories IMO. Even in the good intended Critique rooms I have waited since the start of October for some feedback on rise and fall. Now I had forgotten I even made that post until I decided to check it again.

Sigh why is the sci-fi/fantasy/supernatural categories so underratted?

Getting a little tired of the moaning and groaning about blocking, and not enough comments, and no one reading your works, and no one giving you the proper criticism. No one has paid to be a member here, and no one has signed an agreement to stroke your ego for you. Write your stuff. Post it. Let people comment or not, as they please. Then get on with your life. Peace be with you all.

There is one turn of phrase that always flips me out. I can never understand why anyone that puts any thought into what they say would use this.

"I found it the last place I looked."

If you are looking for something and find it, this is the most moronic thing to say. When I hear people say this, I always say. "Of course it was the last place you looked! You would have to be really foolish to keep looking other places once you found it."

My friend Holly turned a picture of one of my guitars into a coloring page...she has magic powers apparently...and I can see this being the start of a new trend myself...

For the first time since joining SS I have deleted a story. After more than two weeks being on site it generated zero interest: no comments or votes.

I thought it was a fun story, too...

Do me a favor And dont lie to my face. Saves us the trouble of me trying to pry it from you and making me the bad guy so that everyone tells me to back off. It's obvious your hurting, but if you dont tell me what it is, that I don't know how to help you.

I now have over 30,000 views on my 28 stories. That is about 1075 views per story. I never would have thought anyone would be that interested in anything I wrote.

I also have a 4.95 scoring average. That is BS. It should be no higher than 4.25, I think, but people are just being nice to the old fart. (one of the more affectionate terms my better half uses for me, most are R rated and can not be written here)

Roland, how did you get the overall story view count and the average score of 4.95? Did you go through them all and add the figures up, or is it posted somewhere?

You can find all those numbers on the StorieSpaces Authors pages.

Click on the magnifying glass on the blue bar and select _Authors._ After that, select the beginning letter of an author's name. We are all there.

I only have half as many views as Roland, but I am .02 ahead of him in scoring! Curmudgeons win over Old Farts any day.

I am not as popular as you, Roland. I have 319 pieces here, with 123,012 total views. That's only 385 views per story. My average score is also lower than you at 4.81. Good for you, my friend.

I think that you will find that most stories get more views than poems, but slightly lower scores. Most of your work is poetic in nature where most of mine is prose.

I believe that the higher view count is partially attributed to off-site/non-member readers. With a shorter piece it is often hard to find flaw enough to lower a score than a work of several thousand words. With a longer story it is easier to have flawed pace or flow thus making the story less interesting. Of course I could be wrong about that. Many of the nuances of good poetry tend to be difficult for me. It is a very difficult skill to put so much into so few words.

Another thing is the site itself. If you have been here longer, you will recall it used to be more difficult to get higher scored. Also older stories have a better chance to have picked up a 1 or 2 score from trolls. Otherwise you would have an even higher average than me.

Sorry Roland. I was not trying to imply I was the better writer, just poking fun at the some of the meaningless statistics. I tried to do it in a self-deprecating manner hoping you would see some humor in it. I would happily bow to your writing abilities over mine any day.

I haven't put much stores in the scoring here. I am just happy that some people read my works and like them.

Again my apologies. We old guys must stick together around here.

Excellent! I find it ironic that every major religion in the world has tenets in their belief system that places those problems as high priorities.
The spiritual side of the religions are with you. Unfortunately, rarely do the church / human controlled worldly side of the religions follow along.
That is why I think it is always important to recognize the difference between a religion's philosophy and its worldly actions.
Sadly they are rarely the same.
