Good morning, all. I'm having my first, very welcome, cuppa java.

Here's a quandry for me and I hope for others. How do I figure out which badge I am missing this morning. I had 21 when I went to bed last night. Now I have 20. For the life of me I can't determine which one is gone. I might add that on another site, that some of us go to on occasion, I had 26 last night and now have 25.

Maybe I am just showing my age. I do hope I can resolve this some time soon.

Anyway, cheers.

Edit: I figured it out. I was messing with my persoanal information and caused my autobiographer's badge to get deleted.

Oh that is so totally story fodder, and with some sort of due respect to the rumpled one who is well intentioned but off base no offense intended, it is more likely to be a story challenge, obligatory tag - noir.
At least it wasn't a sneaky badge thief.

I'm not even sure how many badges I have so I wouldn't notice one missing, esp. on the other site Larry mentioned where I have a quite a few.

Afternoon green tea time. Hope everyone's Monday is going well.

Halloween looms and my annual story is here. Is it a trick? Or a treat? Let me know.

I just checked for you, Scott. You have 11 on another site.

I'm always on the look for story ideas, Gypsy. I'll make a note of it.

Starting on my 4th cuppa java now. The afternoon is moving towards rehearsal time again.

Is that counting multiples (e.g. my 4 RRs there) once?

That is simply the badges. Not the number of the awards. But that would be an interesting way to count badges. In the military you can receive multiple awards of a single ribbon/medal but you would only wear one. On the ribbon would be a small device indicating multiple awards. Gav has done something like that here where our Author badge shows the number of stories we have posted.

It's very late or very early. Of course, I can't sleep.

I spent most of today beginning the process of getting my parent's house ready to sell in the spring, starting in the attic.

Thankfully they have finally picked out a retirement community they will move into.

I'll take a ginger ale and a shot of Nyquil. I stashed a bottle here. Sorting through fifty years worth of things in the attic triggered an asthma attack.

Never had to sort through an attic (my parents stash was in the basement) but I was a librarian in a previous life and had to oversee inventories. Books are powerful dust magnets, and we are talking pulling every single book out far enough to wand its barcode. I'm not hugely, immensely allergic to dust, but my nasal passages were in agony by the end of some days (I tend more to upper respiratory tract problems, so sinus infections and that sort of thing rather than asthma and bronchitis).

Morning tea. Nice English Breakfast today.

It was reported by the local weathercaster that November was the coldest on record in our area. I knew it felt odd. I usually enjoy the fall temperatures.

Having another cuppa java to get warm again after putting thistle seed in the feeder for the finches.
It's cold out and I am up entirely too early.

I don't drink coffee or tea. I'll just have a glass of water and sit in the corner and finish my oatmeal before I return to the task of attic cleaning. I took a day off to let the dust settle.

I hope everyone is having a good week.

Good luck with it. Are you using a dust mask? They can be helpful, even though they can also be an incumbrance.
Waiting for the coffee to brew.

My triweekly immunotherapy is this afternoon, and then I'll have final dress rehearsal this evening.

My wife had the incredibly daunting task of cleaning up after her mother passed away. That was years ago and her brother still has boxes of stuff just stacked in his garage. He is a latent hoarder. I've been able to overcome that tendency in me and help control it for my wife.

Thank you. I am using a dust mask but not sure how much it is helping. I am doing better going over every other day. Back again at it tomorrow. It is interesting going through the contents. My father can't remember much about what it up there as expected. But my Mother doesn't know where some of the things came from. After the attic and after the holidays we will be tacking the other four levels of the house.

I'll take a lemonade and contemplate revisiting some story ideas I have.

I hope everyone is having a good evening or morning depending on your location.
I am trying to crank out a story of the dark.
Good morning. Having my second cuppa java. It's a bright, shiny day. But too cold and I need to do some grocery shopping.

Oh, for the first time since we started perfoming the Nutcracker here at our arts center we were completely sold out for all performances before opening night. That was last night.

Cheers, all.

Wow! Sell out is awesome. Congrats. Bet it gives everyone an enormous lift. Love the Nutcracker and it just so happens that I am going today! .. but, sadly, not to your performance. Tchaikovsky's fairy tale music is mind blowing isn't it? It's my fav ballet after Coppelia.

Sun's up ... 6am walk along the beach.. stong offshore breeze tugging at my 'should be sailing' heartstrings... looks awesome out there... feasted on a mug of fresh ground steaming coffee and spicy fruit muffins, toasted of course... worked late last night.. again!!!! .. the holiday season must be on as I woke to a mere 84 emails!

Time now for second mug of caffeine nutrient as I set about these emails... off to The Nutcracker today.

Morning and a good day (pronounced g'day .. one and a half syllables ) to everyone. Have a great Sunday!

The Nutcracker is so popular. Three ballet companies are putting it on within a circle of one hundred miles. With ours in the center.

G'day, all.
Never been a big ballet fan, really. Love the music to a lot of them, including The Nutcracker, but the ballet style of dancing itself just doesn't seem to turn my crank. Even modern dance, I find I prefer short, punchy pieces to long form works.

That is fantastic, Larry! smile hope your first night was a great success.

Cup of Earl Grey to get me going here, please.
The coffee is brewing. Need that to be really thinking clearly.

Just a matinee performance today. Last night the grasshoppers missed their cue to enter. They're only around 5 or 6 years old. So they gave their performance after final bows. The audience got the whole show.

Grasshoppers. You can never depend on them, eh?

That is almost the best prompt for a story I have ever read.

You're absolutely right, Gypsy. I'll have to consider that.

The coffee is brewing. I've already been out to fill the thistle seed feeder for the finches.

Now we wait for the first cuppa java.
It made a pretty good little micro that "story prompt" that Gypsy liked.

Time for that first cuppa java. Lovely time of the day after the horrid part of actually arising out of bed.

Cheers.
Just starting on my second cuppa java. I've been checking some statistics here on our site.

Did you know that only twenty people have written over a third of all stories here? About 9,560 stories have been posted here and those twenty busy little bees have contributed about 3,340 stories. That means some 820 authors wrote the rest, around 6,180.

Not only that, but there have been 290 of those writers who only published one story. That was all they wanted to post, I guess. But it occurs to me that may be why we have so few really active people here. So many simply told their one story and moved on. I do wish we could change that somehow.

Anyway, bottoms up with one more cuppa.
Ladies, what's your makeup routine? I'm looking for a new foundation, preferably liquid but still matte and now that the men have stopped reading we march at midnight.

edit
Larry, those are very interesting statistics! Food for thought. smile

Hayley, I just wear BB cream rather than full-on foundation, so don't know if I'm any help!

A cup of Earl Grey on this gloomy morning would go down nicely. ☕
