We just got back from a nice hike out in the woods of our nearby state park. Our townhome is just two or three miles away from the large park with miles and miles of trails and a huge lake for fishing and sailing.

The weather is so great today it was a shame to waste it. Victor did find a Copperhead snake that I didn't let him play with. He has no fear. The lake is above flood stage in parts of it.

I got some tomatoes yesterday so I think I need to make a bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich tonight. It better taste good 'cause I'm looking forward to it.

Lucky dog (that's referring to both you and Victor ). We have a couple conservation areas but they aren't that big. Even the closest provincial park is rather small and known mainly for its beach and sand dunes (it's on the shore of Lake Huron) rather than its trails. Now Ottawa, where my son lives, has Gatineau Park which is a massive conservation area loaded with lakes and trails. He goes over there to mountain bike and we've been in there hiking with him a few times.

Ack. Yeah, you don't want him messing with those. We have rattlers in a region of the province North of here but they are long since gone in the rest of the province. Therefore, I actually never saw a rattlesnake in the wild until I was in Utah a couple years ago. Treasured moment, that. Love snakes in general but rarely see them and this one was a beauty.

Cleaning is done. Just resting before we start on dinner (pasta and seafood in a blush sauce). Time for a green tea, I think.

I was going to be lazy and do some reading this evening, but that didn't work out. I couldn't find something in my closet and could not put anything else away in my husband's. I got frustrated and pulled everything out of both closets. Trying to sort through everyone got annoying so I am taking a break. I'll have to deal with it tonight if I want to sleep in my bed since everything is piled on top.

I made some banana bread and am going to make some sort of fig jam later. I'll leave the banana bread on the counter.

I'll have a glass of ice tea to enjoy while I shirk my responsibilities.

Cheers!

Gill, this sounds a great deal like me. I am forever upending things on my bed so I can get them sorted. Then bedtime and I just pull them off to the floor only to pick them up and put them back the next day. Not fun. Don't know why I keep doing it. Sigh.

That sounds exactly like me, too! Much of my wardrobe seems to live on the floor for more time than it should. Hey ho!

Coffee for me, please! I was dancing most of yesterday afternoon and evening and can't seem to move today!
Good morning, Cynthia. I'm needing another cup of coffee now. I think this will be a rather lazy day.

I do feel the urge to write, but we shall see.

Yay! I gots a badge. I is now a Forum Guru. To celebrate, brought in a box of doughnuts.

(Actually, badges aren't a big thing with me, but hey, any excuse for doughnuts, eh.)

I'll have some doughnuts.

I scheduled out three posts to go on my site for this week. I need a break from all of the writing I've been doing. I have a total of 50 post ideas for Blogtober and have to whittle some down or combine like post ideas. The little one is napping and I can clean up my kitchen before she wakes up demanding food or something else.

*whispering so not to wake Sharon's sleeping angel*

I'll take a donut too.. *modestly flashing my shiny new Challenge Champ badge*

Thanks to all who read my whacky tale. I'm looking forward to the next challenge idea.

At work again today, so free coffee for all.. we have a lot leftover from National Coffee Day yesterday, but hey, free is free, right?
* wanders in and puts on the kettle *

Good morning and Happy New Week! New story is finished but I got hung up on, of all things, the one-liner. First time I've ever got into a tussle over that. I'm going to start on a Moon Challenge story this week.

Had a nice visit with some relatives from my wife's side that I haven't seen in a long time (wife is Chinese so most of her family is far, far away) on the weekend. Son reports doing well getting interviews for his next co-op/internship job. All seems well at the moment, IOW.

Good morning, Tamara and Scott. Tam, you might be interested in knowing there is a Moon challenge still in effect right now. It's had only three entries so far. This is the thread announcing the challenge.

I'm working on my second cup of coffee now. Completed all of my usual chores. I am working on the Moon challenge now, but it is going slow.

Thanks, L. I will plant that seed and see if a moon story grows.

I have Tuesday and Wednesday off which means tonight is Friday for me. Yay! I'll have some more coffee to get me through the last hour of my shift... then we will switch to something harder. smile
I do love badges. Not sure why but they amuse me. I am afraid I won't be earning new ones anytime soon. My writer's block is alive and well. I'll keep trying though.

It's still summer weather here. Gong to be 95 by Wednesday, but relief comes on Friday with winds blowing in cooler weather. I feel claustrophobic with all the windows in my house closed.

I'll have a lemonade. I hope this Monday has been good for everyone.

Cheers!
Hello! I was in charge today for some reason at work. I told my supervisor that the plaster is falling from the ceiling thanks to the rain and there are leaks everywhere. I just got another post ready to be scheduled out. The little one commandeered my phone and is watching YouTube videos. I put it on some nursery rhymes and she just came up to me and said "Green." She's a two-year-old ball of energy that doesn't stop. I'll have an apple juice for her and green tea for me, please

Hi, Rump. Hi, Sharon. How's life? Came in for my morning tea and to respond to a comment on my story. My hometown survived a massive student party this past weekend (long story which I will tell if you're interested). Fewer arrests and first responder calls than last year in spite of a larger crowd. Only cost us CAD$300,000 to police it *groans and looks at property tax bill*

Morning, Scott. Hey Bill. Nice day. Starting out well. Vuctor has his chin resting on my leg, watching me type and do other computer chores.

I'm thinking of heading out to Mesa Verde National Park soon. We have discovered there are tons of places there in the park that are accessible and the pup is allowed to roam along with us on the trails. That makes it tempting to visit. And it is a short two day drive out there to Southwest Colorado.

The temperatures are cooling and the leaves out west will start turning colors soon. It might be a good trip.

Haven't been to that one yet though I've heard of it. Your national parks are just amazing. Can't think of one I have visited that I haven't enjoyed.

We keep thinking we're there and then, wham, another last gasp of summer. High of 30C and humid today with a risk of showers or thunderstorms. More like August 1 than October 1.

And speaking of horror, I did a terrible job with that calls for subs list. Here's a alibi and/or excuse and maybe even a solution to the problem of links that don't work.

mea culps follows: Sorry about that snafu. Most of the time I delete the links because they won't transfer.

With that '50 word' listing and all the rest, just google either the site issuing the call for subs and/or the name of the contest, etc..

Here's the link for the 50 word item:
https://www.everywritersresource.com/every-writer-halloween-50-word-scary-story-contest/

Who knows, with luck it might even work. If not, try that google trick mentioned above.

Cheers for all the listings, Bill. We appreciate your hard work!

It's gone from late summer to winter here this week. Brr!

Coffee to get me warmed up and going today, please!
Tea time! Okay, any time is pretty much tea time for me. Thanks to all who've been complimenting my latest. I love ghost stories and I'm heartened by the response to my latest attempt at the genre. If you haven't partaken yet, the link is in my sig.

Survived summer's brief (hopefully) last hurrah. Cool and wet today.

Still wrestling with my moon challenge ideas. I have about three different stories rattling around in my imagination, none of which really goes anywhere as of yet. It's all beginnings with no endings. I know it will likely involve the "dark" side of the Moon in some way and that's about it.

Morning, all. I need to get my first cup of coffee in me quickly.

Never any worries, Bill. We always get these things figured out. Any efforts to give aid and comfort to simple writers are appreciated.

Not a clue what is happening today. I am in a sort of fog for some reason. Oh well, always some chores to do.

That's literal here. Was quite misty first thing. Probably clearing out now.

No fog or cool weather here. It will be arriving this weekend. Today they are expecting record highs. It is now 96. By Friday it will be breezy and in the low 70s. That is much more my kind of weather.

I've been hanging out with my cat Apollo. He has either an injury to his neck or a neurological issue. I came home yesterday to find him with his head cocked to one side and falling down. After a trip to the vet and some meds, he is a bit better today. We are hoping it is an injury that will heal.

I am trying to make lists of things I need to do and or hope to do and one for television shows I want to watch. One show I am eagerly anticipating is the second season of Castle Rock. It starts later this month.

I'll take a lemonade to sip out on my deck. I might as well enjoy most likely the last summer day. Soon I will be complaining it is too cold.

Cheers Everyone!

So you're basically running a day behind us. We had the record highs yesterday and are cooling down now. And Ottawa is apparently under a frost warning tonight. * shudders *

It’s definitely turned wintery here. Time to bring my duvet into the coffee shop, curl up in a chair, and scrounge a good book from someone

You're on a writing site and need to scrounge a book??

I'm making a fresh pot of green tea. Anyone else?

I think we need to start a library in the coffee house. I can donate several collections of short stories and my entire Stephen King collection to start with.

Too warm for tea, I'll have another lemonade and a bowl of ice cream. I'll be happy to share some. I have Rocky Road and Vanilla Bean.

Cheers Everyone!
I've got Arabica french roast brewing. It should be ready in a few minutes. Today is dance class. I'm rather achy and this class will stretch my muscles but I'm sure I'll be even achier later on.

Victor sees me get out my dance bag and he knows I will be leaving and won't take him with me. He goes back to bed a very unhappy pup.
