Me, I meandered in here looking for some inspirations. No luck, of course, but coffee and dog stories are almost as good. Which reminds me, I've actually finished a story for SS. It's an expanded (300 wds) version of the story I told Verbal a day or two ago. It'll probably be submitted later today or maybe on Friday. Consider yourselves warned. ;)

:gglasses8:
-- I WARNED Y'ALL --

My first new SS story in some time has just been posted! Don't blame me. I'm just the writer. It's all the fault of Molly the Marvelous Mod who verified my pathetic pile of pitiful puppy prose doing business as:

The Tumultuous Tale of a Tormented Terrier
https://www.storiesspace.com/stories/memoirs/-the-tumultuous-tale-of-a-tormented.aspx

That's the bad news. The good news is it weighs in at a trim 324 words. That means that while reading my insult to good taste and the English language might be a trifle painful, it should be a quick read.

Checkk it out if you get a chance.

The evening is moving along and it's time for some herbal tea. Something to help me sleep tonight.

I decided to write a micro-fiction story this evening. It came out nicely I believe. It's been submitted for approval.

Cheers.
Good day. The coffee is freshly brewed here. Just poured a cup and awaiting the cooldown for the important first sip.

Nice to see a new micro-fiction posted and some kind comments. It's always good to have something fresh for my readers to consider.

We had storms all night long with flood watches. I was quite sure that our townhome here was not in a flood plain. But it does mean I have to take care when driving around the area in this kind of weather.

Have a great day.
More floods? You folks up that way need to break the habit of flooding all the time. ;) Hang in there, Larry. The dry season is approaching, assuming it hasn't beenoutlawed.

Enjoyed your new 'Micro' -- as usual.

Think I'll try some of that coffee. Anybody else need a mug full?

We took a drive around the countryside yesterday afternoon. We visited a city park that we had not stopped at before. Now the pup has some smell memories to add to his dreams.

The coffee pot perked and I'm having my first cuppa java. It's there for anyone that stops by.

Simply because I am completely changing the arc of my story does not mean I can't get it done. No worries.
Good coffee, Larry, mercy bucket.

All the recent talk here on SS about dogs got me to wondering if a short fiction 'challenge on the theme of dogs might appeal to a few folks. At the moment I'm thinking of a 1000 word 'Flash' maximum. Cats and other pets might also be included on this go-around or maybe a later, stand-alone 'challenge'.

Anybody got any thoughts?

It sounds like a fine idea. At first, I was thinking that we already had our Moon Challenge still ongoing. I know Sara is writing a story for that one right now. And I was going to meet that challenge as well when I found the time.

But, actually, there doesn't seem to be any reason why there couldn't be more than one challenge to meet around here. If you come up with the parameters I'm sure some of us could meet your challenge adequately. One good thing about these challenges is that we don't have to have a starting and ending date. Not if we decide it is not necessary.

I've switched to some root beer now. I have to get away from caffeine so I can sleep tonight. And I am busily working on another story.

I hope everyone's day will continue happily.
The coffee is tasting rather good this AM.

Warm and dry here with no clouds in the sky.

Got my latest story written and it's been received well enough. I'm happy to report I am on two top author lists at this moment. That just makes my heart thump with glee.

Hope all are going to have a fine day.
Morning, y'all. Coffee's on and there's a plate full of Jalapino poppers for those needing something to kick 'em into gear.

Me, I've messed up, as usual. In a couple days, I'll be heading for the coast south of L.A. for my senior grandkid's graduation with a doctorate in physical therapy I'm told we won't be coming back to the desert until the following Tuesday.

That means cranking up some sort of 'dog and/or pet themed challenge will either need to be delayed or, much better idea, someone else needs to do all the heavy lifting while I'm AWOL. ;)

As for the contest, seems to me that if it is flash length, there shouldn't be any problem with it running along side of Anna May's 1500 word minimum 'Mooner'. IMO, checking first with her and Maggie would be a goodness.

Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Thanks, Bill. I'll have a cuppa your java and brew another pot, just in case.

Before I even consider getting involved with another challenge there would have to be some actual interest from the regular suspects. Other than my simple, "sure, I'll write for anything, anytime."

I do believe it will be a 'wait and see if the enthusiasm blossoms' kind of thing.

MMM.... nice coffee.
Good day. It looks like it wants to rain outside but it has held off so far. Long enough to get in our morning walk.

The coffee is brewed. Now for a cuppa java.

I proofread a story for a friend yesterday and it might get approved today. I have a story from another friend who wants me to look it over. It's in 3rd person but she doesn't think it sounds right. She sometimes has trouble, switching back and forth from 1st to 3rd person.

Luckily, I don't have any writing of my own on the burner at the moment.

Coffee is still too hot. Oh well.

Cheers.
Coffee looks good, any left?
My son’s GCSE results come out tomorrow and I’m more nervous than him 😳
I hope he’s done okay...

Best of luck with the results, Helen.

I had to mount a new exterior light fixture on the back of our townhouse. The light has had a short in it for some time. I do hate working with electronics. But it is now done. We will have light when we go out in the evening after the sun goes down.

Having my last cuppa java now.

Cheers,
Morning all!

Hope your son's GCSE results are all good, Helen. Fingers crossed!

Glad you got that outside light sorted, Larry. Those things can be tricky.

A coffee will do nicely to get me up and running here!
It's a good day. The trash and recyclables are being picked up today. I will have my first ballet class for the fall season today at 10:00. So, looking forward to that.

I do need some coffee to get me going before I take a shower. First things first.
Hi all,
Good results today for my son. Very pleased.
Hope the ballet class goes well today x
Any chance of a nice cup of tea?
Great news, Helen. Many congratulations to him.

Not sure about tea being nice but, sure. I will join you with a strong, black espresso.

Great results, Helen.

You may have the tea of your choice. The water is hot. And the coffee is also to your preference. I usually have a pot of Arabica. I see that Anna is making some espresso.

Hope everyone is having a grand day.

I certainly agree Mr. Rump Sir
G'day all. I am back for a bit after a nice tour of the UK and Ireland. Would do it differently next time, but still had a good time.

Congrats to your son, Helen. Always remember that we do get to take some credit for their successes if only because we kept them fed and clothed.

*pours a tea and adds a twist of lime*

Halloween looms and my annual story is here. Is it a trick? Or a treat? Let me know.

Grace of Bigelow Street | Stories Space

Good day, Scott. Nice to see you back. I'm sure a trip like that will have lots of memories to store away for the future.

I see the coffee has brewed so I'll have a cuppa java.

I'm waiting for the ache to settle in from my ballet class yesterday. I know it is coming. What I call ballet thighs and it is a familiar and rather welcome ache in one's muscles used for dance lessons. It will come soon.

Have a great day, all.
Good day. Found another spammer this morning. I expect it will be deleted later on today.

Coffee is ready. Starting with my first cup with the pup laying against my thigh.

Cheers, all.
After weeks of rain, the risk of flooding and dams in danger of collapse threatening a whole village summer has returned to the North West of England. The only drink appropriate for today is a cool beer whilst I watch a gripping match of Test cricket against the Aussies - heaven!

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Hebrews 4:12
The fresh pot of coffee is brewed. We can get some water boiling quickly.

I've got my first cuppa java for the day. Thinking about what a thrill it was going to my local community theatre last night.

We have an annual celebration to thank all of the volunteers that make our kind of theater possible. Counting those on stage but just as importantly the ones doing the work that gets the play or show on the stage for the audience to see.

My wife volunteers and mostly works in the costume department. She is a stitcher but does an inventory of the shop when necessary. Along with that she works taking tickets for the shows and will often usher, too. Last night she was called up on stage to receive her award for 500 hours of volunteerism.

My offering was a lot less. This past year I only worked in one staged reading for a few hours of rehearsal and performance.

It's really time to get some writing started.
The unbelievable has just happened - after 4 days play England have just beaten Australia in a Test match they should have lost. They needed 73 runs with only 1 wicket left and that player was a specialist bowler and not a batter. It is impossible to explain to my American friends the tension of the last few hours when every ball could have been the end of the match and the end of England’s chances of regaining the Ashes, but my friends from Australia, New Zealand and India will know exactly how it feels. My sympathies are with my Aussie friends but they have the consolation of knowing that their team played extremely well in what could be the greatest Test match of all time.

This may be a coffee house but I reckon that champagne is in order if a bottle can be smuggled in somehow.

I'll have a glass of champagne even though I nothing about cricket.

It's been a busy few weeks. My parent's house is officially sold. They will be moving on the fifth of September.

It's been stressful but we have managed to laugh along the way. The highlight was the lawnmower ending up in their pool the day before the walkthrough. We have no idea how he managed that and of course, he has no recollection of it happening. I got it out and cleaned up the oil that had leaked out. You never know from day to day what will transpire. It's either laugh or cry. Although I have been doing both lately.

My AC also quit during all this and my husband is in Newfoundland visiting family. He could have fixed it himself if he had been home. I had to wait four days to get it running again. Those were some of the hottest days of the summer, of course.

I will hopefully have a bit more of my life back soon.

I hope everyone is doing well.

I made cherry limeade again. I'll leave a pitcher on the counter.

Cheers!
So relieved to hear your parents' house is finally sold, Gill! that really has been stress upon stress, plus missing your trip to Newfoundland!

Keith, I was on the edge of my seat watching the cricket highlights yesterday. That innings by Ben Stokes was unbelievable! What a hero! At least we still gave a chance at the Ashes, thanks to him!

A coffee to get me going on this Bank Holiday Mobday, would so nicely!
