Made up a couple big pitchers of iced tea, one sweetened, one not. There's lemon wedges for those who like that in their tea. Hot and muggy here with rain looming. Thinking about story ideas for the moon challenge and trying not to melt.
Late in the day, I don't want coffee or tea. Have a nice big glass of ice water. Must stay hydrated they keep saying. Today I didn't go outside at all. Spent a couple of fun days away this week, but the heat! Had to keep a proper attitude to have a good time. But saw old friends, went to a wonderfully interesting auction where a box of baseball cards sold for $12,400 to an over the phone bidder. Amazing. Always remember for it to get that high someone was bidding against the winner. And postcards. So many - probably 1,000 over several lots and the money they went for...thought I was hearing things.
Hope everyone has a good night with plenty of cool a/c. I didn't open the drapes to keep the heat out.
Good morning Larry. I have done a load of laundry and watched Sunday Morning on CBS, Listening to wonderful happy music now. A friend posted on FB a big mama black bear and her 3 cubs following along walking through a field near her house. This is over the mountain from me in a place called Fort Valley - rather restricted access location. All the people living there have been calling each other because evidently the mama bear is a rather permissive mom, she lets those cubs go anywhere and do whatever they want. Just need to check outside before you go outside evidently. It is amazing to have wildlife like that close by. We just have the white-tailed deer that think we planted our property for their culinary delight. You can get six feet away from them yelling at them to go away and they are all hard of hearing and just look at you until one of you backs down. Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.
The only wildlife we see here are deer, foxes, and rabbits. Another heat advisory day, with temps to 100 and high humidity. Thankfully it will cool off by Tuesday.
Cooling off in the water is not ideal, the bay is 85 and local pools are about the same.
I'm getting some things done on the inside of my house today. Lawn and garden work can wait until it's not a sauna outside.
I made some Cherry Limeade, I have plenty to share.
Cheers!
I am so glad they are promising better temperatures tomorrow . Maybe your weather will move east Larry and give us a break. Last night's thunderstorm was wicked. Thunder clapping right on top of the house. And some people had trees come down and hit their houses or take power lines with them. Nothing compared to the flooding other parts of the country have been experiencing. Showed 3 large oak trees that looked like they had been twisted so hard they broke. Now that is a mini something or other. Not normal wind.
It is a hot July day here in Devon with an almost cloudless blue sky and just the slightest of a cooling breeze; and I am practicing what the Dutch call ‘Niksen’ or more poetically in Italian ‘la dolce far niente’ — in translation ‘the sweet art of doing nothing’ which entails nothing more arduous than allowing my mind to simply wander without purpose. This enviable quality of being able to really enjoy doing nothing is something which our European neighbours have long mastered, but which is so strange to our English natures, believing as we do that every waking moment should be filled with activity and that allowing the imagination to wander unhindered is nothing short of laziness. But the truth is that it’s quality time well spent, In fact so enjoyable it’s sweet, juicy, and delicious, just like homemade pasta with fresh pomodoro sauce or Italian ice cream; and it is positively beneficial in clearing the mind of all those toxic thoughts and recharging batteries that have been exhausted as we rush about aimlessly in pursuit of money or fame or happiness.
I would love a cooling glass of citron when I can summon the energy to lift the glass to my lips and maybe some stracciatella and pistachio ice cream when you have time sir, but please don’t exert yourself too much — remember doing nothing and daydreaming is positively life enhancing.

As I said it has been hot here today - hot for England that is - and once the wind dropped it was rather uncomfortable because of the humidity, which is also often the case in England when the temperature climbs. Doing nothing was definitely the best option and it allowed me to lie flat to ease a minor bout of sciatica which has been plaguing me recently - growing old sucks at times.
As the evening is drawing on a glass of a good single malt whisky might be better than coffee if that is possible. It might also help take my mind off the depressing fact that our British Trump clone Boris Johnson will be taking office as Prime Minister tomorrow, a man totally unfitted for office who was elected by under 100,000 members of the Conservative Party - a very British coup d’état and a mockery of all the ideals of Parliamentary democracy.

So happy to welcome RuNe here. giggle. And Keith, my heart goes out to you - feels like civilization is crumbling.
I just discovered "spearmint green tea." It's delicious.
