The winter is with us this week. Snow yesterday and more coming this week.

The coffee has brewed so I can get started with a cuppa java.
Too many responsibilities. Send a cup of chamomile my way.
It's a holiday today, which explains why there were so many people at the store. That and a forecast of possible snow on Wednesday. People here overreact to snow forecasts. I haven't been snowed in for several years. So I don't know why everyone is out buying bread milk and toilet paper.

I needed stuff since I haven't been to the grocery store since I came down with the flu. Apparently, everyone else living in my house forgot where the grocery story is. Sigh...

I'll have a ginger ale and curl up under a blanket and try to get some reading done.

I've given up on writing for the time being.

Cheers Everyone!
Hope you are recovering, Gill and managing to rest today.

Despite a chilly wind, it's been very spring-like here this week. It can't last!

Earl Grey tea here, please.
Hoping all are well now.

As always about now the weather is lousy. But I got the sidewalk cleared off so we can walk out without going through the snow.

I'm having more of my hot java. Contemplating the work I will have creating a new ebook soon.

Cheers, all.
We have had a beautiful few days here! Now it's almost time to batten down the hatches again. Hey ho!

Lemon and ginger tea here, please.

Comedy Central has nothing on the House Oversight and Reform Committee

We Canucks have our own bit of political theater going on in our capital. The former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General is alleging the Prime Minister's office tried to get her to shut down a prosecution of a large Quebec engineering firm (that has a long history of being a bad actor) in favor of a settlement with the company. It's all politics, as the company is a major employer in Quebec and everyone tiptoes around anything to do with that province (oh, if only they had separated in '95) and I have little to no doubt that the PMO did do it. She testified before the Commons justice committee yesterday and said what we expected, fingering some major players from the PMO (including one who's already quit over the scandal) and other senior ministries like Finance. We have an election looming in October so this may or may not influence things. We shall see.

I'm putting on the kettle to make some Earl Grey. Anyone else for tea or hot chocolate?

Halloween looms and my annual story is here. Is it a trick? Or a treat? Let me know.

Ooh, hot chocolate sounds nice, please!

On this side of the pond the whole Brexit debacle is still rumbling messily on...

I've wondered if Quebec ever used this form for capitol punishment

I would love a pot of Earl Grey this late afternoon

I gave up a long time ago. It makes our troubles over Quebec look like a minor family squabble.

Halloween looms and my annual story is here. Is it a trick? Or a treat? Let me know.

As mentioned before (I think) I am the system administrator (think Gav but without the programming skills) of a site called Wondercafe2.ca. This past weekend, I had planned to upgrade it to the latest version of the forum software we use, Xenforo. Except that early Saturday morning, the site started puking out errors periodically. I ended up trying the upgrade to see if that would fix it, after doing some other troubleshooting, but no dice. The error came up during the upgrade and crashed it. And I've now realized that my dev site, where I test things like upgrades, is doing it, too. So I am now awaiting word from the company that hosts the site (both the live one and the dev) on what may be wrong.

Eeeeeeek! That sounds major, like. sad

Lemon and ginger tea here, please. Sometimes I'm thankful I'm a technophobe...
Finally got things fixed up on Monday, but I've now had to put off the upgrade. Hopefully this coming weekend. I am trying to figure why the hell I am doing this stuff in my spare time when it's also my day job. Plus I'm acting treasurer of the board (though only because we needed to raise funds for some work related to the upgrade).

Kettle's on for those who need it. Some orange pekoe with a twist of lemon for me.

You are far too good! that's the problem with volunteering. On specific tasks seems to spiral into a lot more! I'll have an orange pekoe with you. Sounds nice!
So, pulling the trigger on the upgrade tomorrow morning. Today, though, just regular work and then a hockey game. Not usually my cuppa but our company and another in the group are sharing a private box tonight and we are using it as a bit of a celebration of some recent successes. And the local Junior A team is on a roll and looking at a serious shot at some hardware this season. This is actually one of the last regular season home games before the playoffs.

Kettle's on, coffee's brewing. * pours another orange pekoe, squeezes in some lime, crashes on the couch *

I can't sleep. I should be tired, I spent most of the day working on my parent's house getting it ready to sell. Moved and got rid of quite a bit of their furniture. The goal is to get it on the market by May. Then they can finally move into a retirement community. I'll rest a lot easier when that happens.

It will be several weeks of work still ahead of me. Painting, stripping wallpaper, etc.

I'll have a ginger ale and curl up on a couch and probably doze off.

Cheers!
Sorry I've not been here for a while. I hope you are all well. Thought I would offer a great piece of music for you all to enjoy/reminisce over.
I'll have a strong black coffee, if I may, please.

I had the same job of house clearing / cleaning after my Dad passed away in 1994. It was during that task that I ran across some of my Mother's poetry and got to know a side of her that I didn't know had existed. She had passed away in 1984 and I so glad Dad hadn't thrown out a lot of her "papers". There is a thread here on StoriesSpace Forum dedicated to her work. https://forum.storiesspace.com/yaf_postst1055_Mom39s-poetryGMA-1908--1984.aspx

Good luck and have some fun remembering things. God Bless.

Gill, this really has been a marathon effort sorting out your parents' home! Glad you can see the light at the end of the tunnel at last! Though you still have a lot more work in front of you, from what you say. Phew! Sending hugs!

Bleak and stormy day here again. A mocha would go down nicely. ☕

Thank you both. It is a lot of work and has been going on for a while. It would be going faster except my parents' issues make having strangers come in and do the work problematic. My Mother's health is not great and my father has dementia. But at least there is an end in sight. By the end of June they should be moved and settled and the house sold. Taking a break today to give me and my parents a break. We tend to get on each other's nerves after a few days.

It is a beautiful sunny day here and I am enjoying a cool breeze coming through the open windows and doors, for now. I'm sure it will be raining again soon.

I'll have a coke with a cocktail umbrella to enjoy out on my back deck.

Cheers Everyone!
Morning all! Just popping in for a coffee before I put the washing out on the line. Since it's not actually raining or blowing a gale here for once!

Coffee would do nicely. ☕
