Love & Affection - a Valentine's Inspired Challenge
It's time for a new challenge, and as the title indicates, it is inspired by, but not restricted to Valentine's Day.
Guidelines for the challenge:
- The text must be written for this challenge and not already published here or elsewhere
- It should be a stand alone story, not part of a series
- There is no deadline to the challenge
- Preface your title with Love & Affection Challenge
- Include love&affection as a tag - note the use of the ampersand: &
- Submit your story via the story submission link on the home page
- Mention must be made in the text of at least one of the following: flowers, chocolates or chocolate, sweets, or cookies
- Word count is minimum 140 words, maximum 1400
- Categories : Children's, Flash Fiction, General, Humour, Memoirs, Musings, Poetry, Romance, Songs and Young Adult
- It should be suitable for all ages, and no sex: not hinted at, referred to with euphemisms, implied, etc.
- Language should be clean and appropriate
- All the site rules apply
The story does not have to be on or about Valentine's Day, but it certainly can be.
Romance isn't a requirement, but would be a welcome addition if it suits the story.
Love and affection can cover a vast territory - it can involve the discovery of love for animals or a pet, for instance, on the part of someone who always claimed to dislike them.
As a bonus, any writer who has had a story in this challenge posted on the site can then, if he or she so wishes, compose a single 14 word piece of micro fiction or poetry and post it as a comment in this thread.
That's it! If there are any questions or confusion about this challenge, please post to this thread and we'll sort things out.
