Hi everyone,

I'd like to let you know about a new feature we'll be adding to the SS home page. Each month we'll be announcing a Reader of the Month winner, which will be awarded to the commenter who we believe has contributed the most helpful/constructive feedback and encouragement to the writers here. Their avatar and a Reader of the Month title will stay in the top right hand corner of the home page (where that blank space is at the moment) for the entire month. The winner will also get a badge added to their profile.

All members are eligible, whether they're here to read or they write as well. The same person won't be eligible to win two months in a row to make it fairer to everyone. You don't need to be a part of the critique forum, you just need to comment on the stories themselves to take part.

Happy reading everybody!

Cool.

That is rather neat; those who give the best constructive crit. and feedback get recognition. I think's that fair and a great idea smile I also like how the same person can't win twice in a row, giving an equal opportunity to everyone.

Love this idea!

I knew I was forgetting something!
Gav got the Reader of the Month feature up and running very quickly (thanks, Gav!), so our first winner is Huyla for her encouraging comments throughout the month of May.

Congratulations, Hulya, and thank you for your efforts.

The next winner will be announced on July 1st.
This act of recognition is certainly a humbling feeling for me. Thank you all in storiesspace.com for this honor (yes, I consider this generosity an honor, indeed). I very much look forward to visiting this thread from now on ( I had not done so yet until I received the wonderful announcement from Lisa...) to congratulate each of the readers of the upcoming months. Thank you once again for making my month!

That was quick - and it looks good too.
I think this is a marvelous idea and hope it spreads...
I do like that is an editor's choice and so will remain an exalted choice.
The comments continue to be one of the best tools to improve our writing.

My congratulations to Hulya, for it is only with readers like her that writers have motivation to create...

She is most deserving to receive the prestigious first award of

"Reader of the Month"
Please read A Gilded Cage and tell me what you think... Really!

Can you make a rule that the winner NOT have an av that creeps me out?

He's going to be staring at us all month now. Maybe we could provide some constructive criticism on Andy's choice of AV.

Not sure if I saw the badge yet...I'll have to go look again...if it looks too nice I might want to quit my job here and just become a reader...not a bad thing btw...

And yeah, I second what Lisa said about supporting and encouraging fellow members...and I'm not saying that just because she's my boss...really, it's great to have people read and comment...

I have to admit, I don't always get the time to read all I would like here...and damn, I work here...that ain't good...congrats to you Kiki...

I've just added the badge to your profile. Gav used to do it but he's made it so I can add it now.
