For Mods and Admins, 2FA is a requirement.  At some point in the future though it will be a good idea to also make this available to everyone in order to increase account security.

Thank you, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something when signing in.

Email/text-based or would you also support apps like Google Authenticator (which I offer as an option on the forum I admin and I also use it myself for a number of forums)?

EDIT: Okay, based on Gill's post, sounds like you're supporting Authenticator so that's a 👌 from me on that.

... the comments from other members that have migrated on my profile are intended for DirtyMartini's profile page.

I am well aware that this is all new and there are a lot of things to sort out but please, could someone get to this or at least acknowledge it?

Thanks

Would you mind reviewing your profile comments again?
I've reviewed the comments on my profile page and things are straightened out now. Comments meant for me are back, ones intended for Alan gone.

Thank you.

Since our photos are still public I'd like to remove them but haven't figured out how yet. It's probably obvious but I am still finding my way around. I am getting notifications now.

There is a little triangle pointing down in the top right of each picture's thumbnail. Click that and you get options to move them (to Private for instance), delete them, etc. Even an edit option that lets you rotate them.

Thank you, I did find it after looking around a bit.

Dang. I hate 2 Factor Auth, though I understand the need. I hope that if we are NOT mods/admins, we don't have to use it.

I am big fan, but we IT types generally are up for anything that improves security. As I mentioned in another post, it would be nice if they had a "Trust device for 30 days" or similar option. That way you're only getting prompted for a code once a month. But I will probably use it if it is made available to users. I do on some other boards. Now if only my stupid bank would get with the program and offer it. I continue to be astounded that my forum accounts are more secure than my bank account.

Ooh, ooh, I just got my first email (thanks Ping)! I really like the display of the email and previous emails.

I just got a notification that you changed your picture. Thanks Verbal, I wondered where recent action would be listed, lol

Yes, mods and admins, not us.

I think.

Question, how do you edit an existing story? I could have sword there was an edit button next to delete when I looked yesterday, but now there’s only a delete option ??

I’m looking in my stories list, is that the wrong place?

You go into the story you want to edit and scroll to the end. Delete and Edit are between the end of the story and the line with the genre and tags.

Yes, that what I thought too. Not any more. Just delete.

Okay… found another glitch. Some of my stories have both the edit and delete options, some are lacking the edit option.

Any ideas why?

Sorry, I feel like I’m not picking but when you’re as prone to typos as I am, an edit option is essential smile

I’m also going to have to change all my covers at some point.

Nit picking! I need an edit option on my forum posts too smile

My top tip for today: cover image changes with no other edits are done instantly without moderator verification smile

In the bottom left corner of your post, there should a downward pointing triangle, a link button, and the Quote button. Click on the triangle to get a menu that has Edit and Delete on it. 😇

New one on me. I can't find any of my stories that don't have both so not sure what is up there.

Fab :)

Ok, it appears that any story entered into a competition has had its ‘edit’ function removed. Non competition stories are still editable. Shame as some of my competition story covers are cropped and look silly. I guess that’s a glitch waiting to be ironed out, though. I’m too impatient. Sorry sad

Ah, that sort of makes sense. I figured there had to be a pattern to it. Now that I know that, I focussed on checking my comp entries (easy since they are all from the past 12 months or so) and, indeed, Edit is MIA.

Sorry, I put this in another thread too. Are we going to have to use the Google authenticator every time we log on? It is having me use it each time I log on.  I thought I was missing stories but found them. I had a few hidden, but that doesn't seem to be an option at the moment. Since our photos are still public I'd like to remove them but haven't figured out how yet. It's probably obvious but I am still finding my way around. I am getting notifications now.

Hi

As a mod you will need to two factor every time you log in, we are looking at having it done just once every three months though. It's to do with potential hacking and data protection issues that could be caused by mods/admin having shared passwords that end up on the dark web if other sites they use get hacked. I know it's a bit of a pain but ultimately it safeguards your account and protects the site from hacking.

Your photos are NOT public, except for 14 cartoon type avatars you have in a public album. The rest are all still in private albums as they should be.

Thank you, I hadn't noticed the privacy changes when I first logged on today. I can now see the option to move my photos around. I don't mind the two-step process now that I am used to it. It just takes me a bit to get used to new things.

Help, please. I hit "submit" thinking I'd get a story preview, but didn't. Not sure what happened. Is there a way I can see if my story was sent to a mod and pending publication? I clicked on cover image and picked one but don't think it loaded. Every time I select this unpublished story there is no image. How do you save the image to the story once you select one?

Non-edit capabilities for competition entries was the same before the move. The competition rules do not allow an edit once the story has been posted. This was set up to prevent writers to edit before judging, to change or correct the text especially if the change desired was based on any comments they might have received once it was online.

But these are on comp entries from, in some cases, years ago. I thought on the old site the edit restrictions lifted once the comp was over. After all, if you're not a podium finisher, it becomes just another story. I think I know a way to check.

Yep, checked the other site that uses this software and old (and even current) comp entries are editable. I think we just relied on the mods to catch people trying to edit submitted comp entries. I rarely edit old stories here so not an issue for me, but I do think only current comp entries should have editing disabled. No one is going to care if you edit a story that came ninth in a comp from five years ago. Still, hardly an urgent problem.

I edit all stories, including comp entries (especially comp entries) for weeks after I post, multiple times. Not that I can't change my process, but why is editing your comp entry prior to deadline a problem? The goal is to end up with the best possible story, right?

Anyway, I have yet to use the new editor, so I will reserve judgement.
