Don't let the name fool you: NATIONAL Novel Writing Month is actually an INTERNATIONAL event in which writers set out to write a 50,000-word novel during the month of November.

Are any Stories Space members participating this year? Have you participated in the past?

Participating or not, what do you think of the idea?

I think a novel (30,000) would be a challenge. It would create interest. Just one of many comps going at the same time. I have not words for a long novel, but it may encourage those who are long-winded. I think it's a good idea.
I have been in the organization for three years in a row. Not that I have written a novel yet. But one has to at least get a spark of enthusiasm in our craft. I will see what comes of it this year. Our area has a team of motivators that has meetings and shares successes. It's a fine idea, especially if one is the type to need that extra help to be gained from sharing a common experience. I will write more about it as the month passes, perhaps.

I’ve done it a couple of times myself, but didn’t reach the 50K word goal. Still, I think it’s a good experience to participate in NaNoWriMo. Please do share your thoughts during your 2018 NaNo journey!

I wrote over 30,000 words in September. It burned me out. I don’t think I could make it to 50,000.
I keep seeing NaNoWriMo mentioned and didn't know what it was, so thank you for enlightening me. For my part, I struggle to write 10k in one month so 50 is definitely out. I'm far too slow and lack the concentration required to achieve this goal. fair play to anyone who can
I will be happy to get a short story or two out, maybe 10-20K words if I get really ambitious. 50K is just too much to shoot for between work and household stuff.

Halloween looms and my annual story is here. Is it a trick? Or a treat? Let me know.
