First publishing rights

I've just finished a nanowrimo novel and would love to post instalments and obtain feedback. However, I'm concerned about first publishing rights. It's nowhere near publishing standard as yet but I'm hoping it may (just about!) be in the future. The query is, would posting it on this site mean I have lost my first publishing rights?

You find yourself in a cleft stick with this. You want to be read but can't be because of the first publishing rights issue. A tad frustrating and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that!

Grateful for any advice. Apologies if there's a place for this somewhere else on the site - I searched but couldn't find anything.

Hello. You keep the rights to your stories/poems/etc. If you post it here and would like to remove them at any time to publish them you can. We won't question it. Other people, myself included, have some stories here that are also posted somewhere else.

I believe and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but most publishers want your story off of free sites before it is published. Other than that, please feel free to share.

I thought I would just clarify something, also. When you post a writing here on SS it is yours, which means you may do anything you wish to it. If in the future you want to publish it elsewhere you are free to make any changes to the copy that you wish. That includes editing and re-writing.

Many thanks. That helps to clarify
