Draft2Digital acquires Smashwords

This is BIG news in the indie publishing world.

Interesting. I looked at Smashwords at one point when I was considering self-publishing some stories but not familiar with Draft2Digital. Acquisitions are often a mixed blessing. They can fill gaps in a company's line and improve things for both but can also just be removing an option from the market. That release makes it sound like positive for all but its from D2D so not exactly lacking in bias. Wonder what the buzz on the street is saying.
