What is your "bestess" thing? That simple thing that gives you comfort or pleasure.
I'll start it off.
An ice cold draft beer in a frosty mug.
A hot slice of pizza fresh from the oven.
The smell of fresh cut grass on a hot day.
Gazing up at roiling, climbing, sun spattered colorful cumulonimbus thunder clouds in the spring skies.
Catching the scent of an opened ancient crackly tome found on a seldom touched upper library shelf.
Feeling the tears welling up as you watch the emotional impact of a wonderfully produced performance of Angels in America.
The soft caress of your lover's lips as you greet and embrace each other after a lengthy separation so very far apart.
Relaxing with a good book (or even, depending on mood, a bad one)
A bike ride or walk on a nice day (vs. today when doing either will lead to a competition between frostbite and hypothermia to see who gets to you first)
Putting on some Beethoven (other composers might suffice at times, but Beethoven is my go-to when I need a pick me up)
Snuggling under my favorite blanket with my favorite book
A good movie
Fresh cut flowers
Going for a walk a sunny day just moseying
Going into a dusty antique store and finding that one thing you just have to have.
Having the best hand at the poker table and knowing it.
A long drive in the mountains.
Seeing the early morning sun illuminate the green hillside on the opposite side of the valley.
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." George Santayana
A fresh hot cup of coffee while watching the sun rises or setting
Walking by the beach shore and watch the sun rises or setting
Under the blanket in a cold day.
Sleep
That long stretch in bed when you first wake up, where you get all the right snaps and pops.
A clean waxed vehicle as you get behind the wheel for a road trip.
That gift you give someone and you know it is exactly what they wanted.
Eating ice cream under the umbrella while raining ...
