The French Lieutenant's Woman (1981)



A wonderful period piece.
The female lead, Meryl Streep, was wonderful & was nominated for best actress.
She would normally won with this performance, but lost to Katharine Hepburn in 'On Golden Pond'.
It is a film within a film.

An old favorite. A science fiction comedy.
It has everything fights (including Kung-Fu robots), chase scenes, action, romance and some really funny stuff. (including a disembodied head, a fight that lasts so long that the hero is rescued by his on unborn child and even space herpes)

I and my family were living on the Mull of Kintyre when this movie came out. We saw it in a little theater in Campbeltown, Scotland.
It was the first time we had candied popcorn and it was the first movie I ever took my oldest son to.
