So I started rewatching The Larry Sanders Show.
I missed it on its first run, but I used to watch it on Bravo, back when Bravo was a thing. Actually, I once had a shoulder operation (rotator cuff) and lay in bed for weeks, and the highlight of the day was two Larry Sanders episodes, back to back, at noon. I clung to them like a drowning man clinging to a life preserver. Great show.
It's so weird watching it again - the cultural references are SO old (Dan Quayle jokes!?) and the celebrities are so young, and from another era. It's like stepping into a time machine. And it's so cynical, almost mean-spirited. Also very funny. And the celebrity sightings are so trippy.
I don't know that I'll re-binge the entire thing, but I might.

At the moment I am watching news channels. Right now it is CNN.
I have started watching the show 'Dead Like Me.' My wife said we watched it when it came out in 2003. It is about a young woman who dies by getting hit by a toilet seat from the Mir space station. When she dies, she becomes a grim reaper and collects souls from people in Seattle, Washington. I have only watched the first two episodes, but I like its weird humor.
You can't get there from here, because when you get there you're still here and here is now there. Watching NCIS season 5 on dvd
After a bit of a break, finally finished Russian Doll on Netflix. Gets a bit darker in the late game and also more confusing. Still a pretty good show, though. Natasha Lyonne and Charlie Barnett are excellent in the lead roles (Lyonne got Emmy nominations as both star and co-writer) and the supporting cast is pretty strong, too. Still not sure how they are going to get a second series out of it, though. They did seem (it's hard to tell since the ending is a bit weird) to wrap things up.
Oh, and supporting player Jeremy Bobb gets the award "Most Likely To Play Jack Nicholson In a Biopic". I mean, seriously, had this been made in the seventies, I would have thought it was Jack playing the part.
I'm watching Lovecraft Country on HBO Max and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It has some really strong actors in it.
The main characters have to survive racism in the 1950s and supernatural monsters. I know it's not going to be for everyone, but I think it's far better than some have given it credit for. I was sad to hear they aren't doing a Season 2. I read that it's because the first season was based on a book and they couldn't get a script together good enough to go ahead with another season. A shame really.
Still oddly obsessed with the old Larry Sanders Show. Lots of cool old celebs and cultural references, some out loud laughs, and the darkest world view I've seen in quite some time.

Flicking between NCIS and the olympics
Wynonna Earp ..season two episode three
Mostly the Olympics for the last couple weeks. My wife found a good three-part bio documentary about George Washington and we watched the first two parts of that. It features dramatizations of Washington's life interspersed with an assortment of talking heads. Most are historians or biographers but Bill Clinton and Colin Powell also show up. Part 1 covers his early life and the French & Indian War. Part 2 covers the Revolution. Part 3, I presume, covers his presidency and the end of his life. It was made for History Channel but we found it on Kanopy, a video lending service available through a lot of libraries.
